A trackable mail service from India Post with proof of delivery. A signature is collected at the destination, and scans are recorded during processing and handover.

How to track Registered Post

  • Website: Use “Track & Trace” on indiapost.gov.in and enter your consignment code.
  • SMS: Send POST TRACK <code> to 166 or 51969 (keep “POST TRACK” in uppercase).
  • App: Open the Postinfo app and choose “Article Tracking”.
  • Ship24: Enter the same code to keep following hand-offs to partner carriers.

Registered Post tracking statuses

You may see messages such as “Item Booked”, “Item Received”, “Item Bagged”, “Dispatched to BO”, “Out for Delivery”, “Attempted Delivery”, “Item Delivery Confirmed”. For cross-border items, you may also see “Send receptacle abroad (OTB)” and “Received receptacle from abroad”.

Registered Post tracking number format

Most Registered Post items use a 13-character code: two letters + nine digits + IN. Prefixes vary (e.g., RA, RX, RP). Examples: RX123456789IN, RP123456789IN.
